Hannah Bateman
Hannah Bateman

Hannah graduated Summa Cum Laude from Mississippi State University with her bachelor of arts in communication with a concentration in public relations in May 2016. She is a communication graduate assistant in the Dean’s office of the College of Arts & Sciences. During her senior year of college, she worked at the MSU Public Affairs office. Hannah’s desire to further her education led to her deciding to pursue her master’s degree in public policy and administration at MSU.

Hannah was raised a Mississippi State bulldog in her hometown of Columbus, Mississippi. After living in Starkville, Mississippi for the past four years, she now calls it her second home. Hannah enjoys spending her time with family and friends and enjoying the Starkville community and its rich traditions.

Courtney Carothers

My name is Courtney L. Carothers. I am from the small town of Coffeeville, Mississippi. I obtained a Bachelors of Arts Degree in History from Greatest University on the planet, Mississippi State University. I am currently working towards obtaining a Masters Degree in Public Policy and Administration and I am enjoying the experiences that it brings. I am also involved in a few different clubs and organizations that fall under the department’s umbrella. I enjoy going to Davis Wade Stadium and cheering on our Bulldogs, as well as hanging out with my friends in the lovely town of Starkville.

Becky Faulk
Becky Faulk

Haley Rebecca “Becky” Faulk graduated from Mississippi State University in December 2011 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Business Marketing. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Public Policy and Administration. She currently works full-time as a Scholarship Counselor for the Office of Admissions and Scholarships at Mississippi State University. Becky is originally from Forest, MS but after living in Starkville for over 7 years; getting involved in the community, she now considers Starkville home.

Russ Garner
Russ Garner

John Russell “Russ” Garner is a master’s student in the public policy and administration program. His interests focus on public policy concerns facing rural America, including small town/rural community and economic development, rural healthcare, and rural veteran’s issues. He also has a strong interest in farmer’s markets and locally produced food. Russ has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, from Mississippi State University, and hails from Brooksville, MS.

Russ is active on the MSU C-CERT (Campus-Community Emergency Response Team), as well as an MPPA Student Representative. He is also a member of the American Society for Public Administration. Russ works as the Data Management Specialist at the MAFES Sales Store.

Before coming to Mississippi State, he worked in agriculture and heavy industry, including 16 years with Holcim (US).

Jennifer Kimmons
Jennifer Kimmons

Jennifer Kimmons grew up in Ashland, Mississippi. Jennifer graduated from Mississippi State University in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. She also won the Outstanding Undergraduate Award of 2016 from the Political Science and Public Administration Department. Jennifer is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Public Policy and Administration. She currently has an overall 4.0 grade-point average. She also works part-time as a Graduate Service Assistant in the Office of the Graduate School at Mississippi State University. In addition, Jennifer is an ambassador for the Graduate Student Association. Moreover, when Jennifer finished her masters, she plans to attend law school. She wants to become a Civil Rights attorney.

Selethia Malone
Selethia Malone

Selethia is from Macon, Mississippi. She graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 2006. She also received a Bachelor of Science degree in Paralegal Studies from Mississippi University for Women in 2010. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration. Her research interest are in school policy and higher education.

Patrick Miller
Patrick Miller

Patrick Miller is currently employed by the Mississippi State University Extension Center for Government and Community Development as an Extension Associate. Mr. Miller assists in the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of educational programs for local governing authorities and the general public. Specifically, Mr. Miller specializes in community development, municipal government, leadership development and is the current institute leader for the Mississippi Certified Municipal Officials program and the Mississippi Municipal Clerk Certification program.

Mr. Miller was born and raised in Ocean Springs, MS and received a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Mississippi State University in 2012. At MSU, he served as Activities Chairman, Recruitment Chairman, and Vice-President of the Mississippi Beta Chapter of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Public Policy and Administration from MSU and is expected to graduate in 2016.

Taylor Mullins
Taylor Mullins

Taylor graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Political Science degree in May 2015. ​Growing up in the small town of Meadville, Mississippi, her areas of interest are local government and human resource management. After working for part-time during her undergraduate years at the Social Science Research Center, Taylor now works as Graduate Research Assistant at the John C. Stennis Institute of Government and Community Development.

Camp Pittman
Camp Pittman

In 2011, Camp worked as North MS field director for Lynn Fitch’s successful campaign for Mississippi Treasurer. In the summer of 2013, Camp clerked at BGR Group; a D.C.-based governmental relations firm consistently described as a powerhouse. BGR Group is a global leader in governmental affairs, strategic communications and investment banking. Following his graduation from the University of Mississippi in 2014, Camp took over field operations in North MS for Thad Cochran. After Cochran’s successfully bid for reelection, Camp was invited to intern in Senator Cochran’s DC office. Following his internship, Camp moved back to BGR Group where he served as a researcher and writer for the firm's clients. Camp is a native of Corinth, MS and currently resides in Starkville, MS where he is pursuing his Master's in Public Policy and Administration.

Janna Sanford
Janna Sanford

Janna graduated from Mississippi State University in 2010 with dual Bachelors of Business Administration degrees in Marketing and Management. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Public Policy and Administration. Although she is originally from Greenwood, MS, she has lived in Starkville for almost 10 years. She currently works on campus as Associate Director of Gift Administration for the MSU Foundation/Shared Advancement Services. In her spare time, she enjoys visiting with family and friends, cooking and trying new recipes.

Leanna Smith
Leanna Smith

Leanna is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration. She graduated in 2009 from the International Business program at Mississippi State University receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Arts (French). She currently works in the Division of Development and Alumni on campus and serves as the Stewardship Coordinator. Leanna grew up in Aberdeen, MS but has lived in Starkville for 11 years. Some of her hobbies include traveling, attending MSU sporting events and spending time with her family including a three year old son.

Akua Twumasi
Akua Twumasi

Akua is from Ghana, West Africa, where she completed her undergraduate program at the University of Ghana, attaining a Bachelors of Arts degree in Political Science and English.

Currently, she is a second year master's student in Public Policy and Administration, and also a graduate research assistant at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration.

Being the first of six, she aspire to be an inspiration to her five younger siblings. Akua's goal is to positively impact lives wherever she finds herself.
During her leisure time, she loves to read, sleep or watch movies.
